New Report Links Edmonton Oilers to Potential Acquisition of Controversial GM Stan Bowman from Chicago Blackhawks

With Ken Holland stepping away from the team just prior to the NHL Draft, the Edmonton Oilers have initiated their search for a new permanent General Manager.
As we reach the end of his tenure as #Oilers GM & President of Hockey Operations, we thank Ken Holland for his contributions to the team over the past five seasons.
Following Ken Holland's departure as General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers, Jeff Jackson has been serving as his temporary replacement. During Jackson's interim period, the Oilers executed two significant trades, sparking interest in keeping him on.
However, recent reports suggest that the Oilers are looking to bring in a seasoned General Manager, with Stan Bowman emerging as a potential candidate.

New Report Links Stan Bowman to the Oilers

The Chicago Blackhawks had to sever ties with controversial General Manager Stan Bowman after it was uncovered that he had concealed crimes committed by a staff member. Since then, Bowman has been banned from the NHL and has focused on addressing his past actions.
In recent weeks, reports have emerged of teams exploring the possibility of reinstating Stan Bowman. Now, it appears that Bowman is being seriously considered for a front-office role with the Edmonton Oilers.
All signs seem to be pointing to Stan Bowman joining the Edmonton Oilers in some capacity as the team continues their GM search.

Hearing he could join as a senior advisor to the GM, but Jeff Jackson seemed adamant that he had not spoken to Bowman at all during the hiring process.
Another report suggests that Stan Bowman may join the Edmonton Oilers as a special advisor, while Mark Hunter, owner and front office member of the London Knights, is anticipated to be appointed as the new General Manager.
Expect the Oilers to name Mark Hunter as their next GM this week. Stan Bowman still working through his options, but don't be surprised if he comes on as senior advisor to the GM.

Hiring Stan Bowman would be a significant misstep for the Edmonton Oilers. Bowman's tenure with the Blackhawks demonstrated a concerning disregard for the safety and well-being of his staff. Bringing him into another organization could risk allowing similar issues to be overlooked.
I hate the argument that Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman "deserve a right to make a living." Are they only capable of working in the NHL? Is that the only job available to these two adult men? I was unaware they were ineligible for work in every other aspect of life.
If the Edmonton Oilers proceed with hiring Stan Bowman, they may face backlash comparable to the controversy surrounding the Boston Bruins' signing of Mitchell Miller or the Columbus Blue Jackets' hiring of Mike Babcock. Such a reaction could prompt the Oilers to swiftly reconsider and retract his appointment.
