The 2024-25 season hasn't started well for Cedric Pare, who is now taking beatings as a Marlie in addition to making headlines as a Maple Leaf.

The NHL has had a lot of great moments during this preseason, but there have also been some negative ones, with the incident involving Patrik Laine and Cedric Pare coming in first. Even though the Canadiens forward publicly stated he didn't think Pare was to blame for the hit, it undoubtedly infuriated many people, and it now seems he could have a huge target on his back.
Pare was targeted by Belleville Senators forward Djibril Toure in his first AHL game of the season with the Toronto Marlies. Following some pushing and shoving, Toure quickly destroyed Pare in a dominant manner.
Even though Pare wasn't significantly outmatched physically, Toure controlled the fight. He scored two fast overhand punches that forced the Leafs player to the ice, ending it before it really got underway. From the outside, it looks like Pare has a target on his back. It's unclear if this has anything to do with what Pare did during the preseason or if it was just about the pushing and shoving that happened during the game.
The team's matchup with the Laval Rocket will undoubtedly provide many answers, as the next few weeks will show whether or not Pare has gained the same level of hatred from rival fan bases as he has from opponents.
