One of the league's most lovable characters is Steven Lorentz, who was born in Kitchener, Ontario. Coaches, teammates, and fans have all praised Lorentz for his class, kindness, and ability to play a hard-nosed, passionate style of hockey. He is incredibly humble and always smiles.
It's incredible to watch Lorentz fulfill his childhood ambition and contribute significantly to Toronto's 3-1-0 start, which has been incredibly defensive. Given his skill set, Lorentz is unquestionably the best fourth-line player Toronto has had since Matthews was selected, and he will play a significant role if Toronto advances far in the playoffs.
On January 1, 2025, Lorentz will be able to sign an extension. Despite the small sample size of just four games, he has been productive and has blended in well with the Maple Leafs' lineup. The Waterloo, Ontario native has played in all four of the team's games and has recorded two points (1G, 1A), both of which came in the team's 4-2 road victory over the New Jersey Devils, in which he scored the game-winning goal with a brilliant backhand.
