Toronto Maple Leafs have been proactive in the off-season, securing multiple player signings. However, their work isn't over yet, with a trade in the final stages.
It now seems they're nearing a trade involving defenseman Timothy Liljegren, who has been at the center of trade rumors for some time, as the Leafs aim to create cap space. TSN's Chris Johnston indicated this trade is probable, despite Liljegren recently signing a two-year extension.
"We'll see if Timothy Liljegren maybe still gets traded. I know he was signed to a 2-year extension, but I don't think you can entirely rule out a trade in his circumstance yet. They're still going to keep chipping away at the roster."
With approximately three months left until the beginning of the regular season, GM Brad Treliving has ample time to finalize one or two moves.

No specific details were provided on who Treliving might trade Liljegren for, but it appears likely he's the target. The Leafs had high hopes for Liljegren after drafting him in the first round in 2017, but he hasn't fully realized his potential.
