After five games without their top goalie, the Toronto Maple Leafs now seem to be on the verge of Joseph Woll's return.

When you take into account that Joseph Woll has been sidelined since the preseason due to a lower body injury, the Toronto Maple Leafs' 3-2-0 record through five games this season appears even more impressive. With a 1.79 GAA and a .937 save percentage in four games, backup Anthony Stolarz has performed admirably, but the Maple Leafs will need their star tandem to stay healthy if they want to have long-term success this season.
Although there has been conjecture regarding Woll's potential return date, Craig Berube has now provided the most significant indication to date that his season debut may occur this week. Berube kept his answers to himself when asked about Woll's condition, responding simply that he might make his season debut on Tuesday.
"Possibly, yes," said Berube when asked about Woll playing on Tuesday.
Although Dennis Hildeby did well in his lone appearance this season, Toronto's matchup with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday will set the stage for Woll's debut. Toronto has only given up 11 goals in their first five games, and with improvements everywhere on the ice, there is a lot of hope that this team will continue to be among the best in the NHL with a healthy tandem.
Although Stolarz has performed well, the team needs both men healthy if they hope to go far in the postseason. Last year, No. 60 struggled with numerous injuries, even holding the team back in Game 7 of their round one Stanley Cup Playoff appearance.
