Lately trade proposals involving Mitch Marner have been circulating, but one proposal stands out as having some merit for both teams.

Martin Necas appears eager for a start expressing a desire to play a significant role with the Carolina Hurricanes. However it seems unlikely that he will be given that chance now as reports indicate that the Canes are looking to part ways with the winger.
The Toronto Maple Leafs could consider pursuing restricted free agent Martin Necas. Necas had an season with 53 points in 77 games. While his overall point production was respectable it marked a decline from his season when he achieved a career high of 71 points and showcased glimpses of star potential.
Should the Leafs manage to strike a deal involving Necas with the Hurricanes this swift winger could serve as a replacement for Mitch Marner, in the six.
Changes are expected in the power play unit for the season creating a possible opportunity for Necas to join that unit.
I understand that Hurricanes fans might not be thrilled about the demands from the Leafs side in this trade scenario. However Marner is considered one of the wingers in the National Hockey League consistently delivering impressive 90 point seasons. Quality players like him are hard to come by. It's understandable that the Canes would need to offer assets to acquire such talent.
Proposed trade;
Hurricanes send; Martin Necas (with an extension)
2024 1st round pick, 2025 2nd round pick, A promising prospect
Leafs send;
Mitch Marner (with an extension)
This trade proposal appears beneficial for both teams involved. The Leafs would gain salary cap flexibility and a talented young player for their six lineup along with draft picks. On the hand the Hurricanes would secure a star, like Mitch Marner to bolster their strong forward group comprising Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov and Seth Jarvis.
Such a move would also give William Nylander a chance to step into a role, with the Maple Leafs, which suits his new $11.5M cap hit.
One thing to consider is that the Leafs would need Marner to agree to waive his no movement clause. I'm not convinced he'd be willing to do that for a trade to Raleigh, North Carolina. Marner strikes me as someone who would prefer living by the coast or playing in a market with endorsement opportunities.
A team like the Los Angeles Kings for instance seems like a option that Marner might consider waiving his clause for compared to Carolina. Nonetheless we can't rule out the possibility that Marner might actually lean towards choosing a quieter market without media scrutiny seeking relief, from the criticism he faces in Toronto.
