The Toronto Marlies have added Ryan McCleary from the WHL's Swift Current Broncos, where he accumulated 36 points in 56 games. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2021 but not signed, McCleary later entered the undrafted free agent pool.
After showcasing his skills at the Maple Leafs' development camp, he is likely to begin his professional career in the ECHL while aiming for a future in the NHL.
Glad Ryan McCleary is getting an AHL deal with Toronto. Good frame at 6-foot-3, right-shot D-man, and impressed Leafs staff at development camp.
Expect him to play notable minutes with ECHL Cincinnati
Now 20 years old, McCleary is poised to pursue a professional hockey career, with hopes of eventually making his NHL debut.
