When he's not busy being one of the best players to ever lace up skates in the NHL, it's no secret Sidney Crosby likes to spend time in his home province of Nova Scotia. He recently made an appearance at a gas station in a small town, and left no doubt it was actually him.
Crosby likes to golf at the posh Fox Harb'r Resort, which was built by Ron Joyce, the co-founder of the Tim Horton's franchise. The resort also boosts a spa, marina, hunting lodge, winery, and private air strip. In the nearby small town of Wallace, Crosby stopped to gas up his vehicle. While the clerk didn't recognize him, what Crosby paid for his purchase leaves little doubt he was there. The total price on his fill-up was $87.87.
Crosby is likely not used to being able to remain anonymous. The nod to his beloved number 87, the year he was born, has been a constant throughout his career, as that is the annual cap hit on a 12-year deal he signed with the Pittsburgh Penguin back in 2012.
Crosby's current deal ends at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, and there is, of course, plenty of speculation on whether he will remain with the Penguins on a new contract, or try his luck elsewhere before he retires from the game of hockey. Seeing "Sid the Kid" in another team's jersey would be odd, to say the least. But, it's not impossible.
