Pittsburgh Penguins sign Sergei Murashov to three-year entry-level contract

At just 20 years old, Sergei Murashov has shown remarkable potential in his career so far. Drafted by the Penguins in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, Murashov spent the 2023-24 season playing in both the KHL and MHL. His performances in Russia's top leagues have been impressive. In the KHL with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, he posted a record of 3-1-2 across six games, with a solid 1.84 goals-against average (GAA) and a .925 save percentage (SV%). Additionally, he recorded one shutout.

In the MHL, Murashov's numbers were even more compelling. He played 34 games, achieving a 24-4-2 record, a 2.03 GAA, a .930 SV%, and four shutouts. His performance in the MHL was recognized with the title of �Best Goaltender' for the 2022-23 season, setting personal bests in wins (24), GAA (1.53), SV% (.948), and shutouts (11).

The 6-foot-1, 172-pound netminder has demonstrated consistent growth over his career. Over two seasons in the KHL with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, he amassed a 4-1-2 record through seven games, accompanied by a 1.71 GAA and a .928 SV%. In the MHL, his four seasons contributed to an overall 73-30-12 record, with a 2.04 GAA, a .934 SV%, and 22 shutouts across 125 games.

This new contract represents a step forward for Murashov and the Penguins as they look to bolster their goaltending depth. With his impressive credentials and promising potential, Murashov's addition to the team is highly anticipated.
