Tristan Jarry has been one of the NHL's worst goaltenders this season, and now the Pittsburgh Penguins have seemingly turned to Alex Nedeljkovic as their starter.
Recently, Alex Nedeljkovic returned to the Penguins lineup, and while his first outing was certainly rough, it appears the team believe he can be their long-term option alongside 22-year old Joel Blomqvist. That has been confirmed ahead of their Frozen Frenzy clash with the Calgary Flames on the road, as the team have announced their top two goaltenders for the critical matchup.
According to their social media post, the team will go with Nedeljkovic in net and Blomqvist as the backup, and while this doesn't confirm the end for Jarry in Pittsburgh, it certainly isn't a good look for the veteran. In 98 games over the past two years, Jarry has posted a save percentage over .900 with a sub-3.00 GAA, so it's unclear what has gotten into him this season, but it doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon.
Given that Pittsburgh are looking to push for a return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, all the team are worried about right now is who gives them the best chance to win on a nightly basis, and if Nedeljkovic struggles in Calgary, that becomes a much harder decision, but if he thrives, it could mean the end for the 29-year old Jarry.
