Justin Schultz, a former defenseman for the Pittsburgh Penguins, has joined the Swiss National League's HC Lugano.

Justin Schultz, a veteran NHL defenseman who won two Stanley Cup titles with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017, agreed to a one-year contract with HC Lugano in the National League (NL), Switzerland's top league
«Justin is a two-way defender. We are confident that his experience can help us in the second half of the season,» HC Lugano General Manager Hnat Domenichelli said.

The 34-year-old Schultz played for the Seattle Kraken of the NHL for the previous two seasons, averaging over 17 minutes of ice time in 143 regular-season games while scoring 14 goals and dishing out 46 assists for 60 points.
After being selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Schultz has played in 745 regular-season games for the Kraken, Penguins, Washington Capitals, and Edmonton Oilers, scoring 71 goals and dishing out 253 assists for 324 points.
Schultz had played for the British Columbia Hockey League's Westside Warriors for two complete seasons prior to going professional. In 2008-09, Schultz committed to the University of Wisconsin, an NCAA school, after recording 15 goals and 50 points in 49 games. In 121 regular-season games during his three seasons with the Badgers, Schultz recorded 40 goals and 73 assists for 113 points.
Additionally, Schultz participated in 81 Stanley Cup Playoff games, tallying 42 points with 10 goals and 32 assists. The right-handed defender contributed four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 21 games during the Penguins' 2017 Stanley Cup run, which helped them win their second consecutive title.
