This afternoon the Pittsburgh Penguins have been confirmed to be losing one of the most important pieces of their front office staff from the 2023-24 NHL season.

Reports have confirmed over the last couple of days that the Pittsburgh Penguins will be losing their now-former Head of Amateur Scouting Nick Pryor. According to reports Nick Pryor will now be heading over to the Colorado Avalanche. The Penguins will also be losing former staff member Alexi Pianosi who was with strength and conditioning to the Avalanche as well.
The Avalanche hired Nick Pryor and Alexi Pianosi, each previously with the Penguins.

Pryor was the director of amateur scouting with the Penguins. Ran the past three drafts.

Pianosi was the Penguins' strength/conditioning coach.
Both of these moves came as a surprise to fans and media within Pittsburgh. However, a recent major addition to the staff explained why Nick Pryor had decided to pursue a new opportunity.

Penguins newest hire drives Nick Pryor out of Pittsburgh

A source close to the situation named Josh Yohe who is a Penguins beat writer has confirmed why Nick Pryor is leaving the Pittsburgh Penguins. According to his sources the hiring of Wes Clark as VP of Player Personnel sparked the move.
Have been told Nick Pryor is leaving the Penguins organization to run the Colorado amateur scouting department. Penguins recently hired Wes Clark as VP of Player Personnel.
This makes sense as Wes Clark comes from a scouting position with the Toronto Maple Leafs. With that in mind, he likely would've overseen and had control over Nick Pryor's staff and decisions. Now with the Colorado Avalanche, he can have the autonomy he had before the hiring of Wes Clark.
As the seasons go by it will be fun to see who uses their draft resources better the new regime with Wes Clark or his predecessor Nick Pryor with the Colorado Avalanche.
