The Ottawa Senators recently traded for Linus Ullmark, a former Vezina Trophy winner from the Boston Bruins, but his tenure with the Sens could be brief.

Insiders Frankie Corrado and Elliotte Friedman have recently indicated that Linus Ullmark is likely to be a short-term acquisition for Ottawa, as he is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season. He has shown little interest in negotiating a contract extension. Source
"The whole contract situation and the talks about that, that is something that (Senators GM) Steve (Staios) and my agent will deal with off to the side. I told them as well that once there is something that needs to be discussed, you can always reach me ... I try not to look too far ahead.

"I try to stay in the moment and not worry about what may or what could be in the future and instead, just enjoying the present."

Friedman on 32TP: «I am under the impression here that Linus Ullmark, unless he gets the extension he wants, he is prepared to play this out»

Both parties have a full year ahead to negotiate an extension, but for Senators fans, who have endured goaltending woes in recent seasons, the lack of progress on an extension is undoubtedly frustrating.
