After years of falling short, the Ottawa Senators are pushing for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2024/25, but with the team needing some improvements, they're expected to be active in the trade market.
That's not all as buyers however, as there are several pieces on their team that could be moved this year, with a report recently revealing that the New York Rangers were targeting Brady Tkachuk in recent times.
Ottawa have since made it very clear that Tkachuk is not for sale, but according to David Pagnotta, they're open to moving several other players, with Thomas Chabot and Drake Batherson potentially available, however it's Josh Norris that is the most likely to move, despite the obstacles that stand in the way of making a deal happen.
The 25-year old currently has 12 goals and 18 points on the season, and while he's still young enough to justify the five-years left on his current deal, it's safe to say that his injury history can make opposing teams hesitant, especially with a $7.95 million cap hit.
While Norris has stayed on the ice this season, he has played just 58 games combined over the last two years, giving opposing teams plenty to think about when targeting him.
Ultimately though, the talent and the production is still clearly there, so the Senators may look to move him for a smaller return to open up their salary cap space, but either way, it's clear that Ottawa are attempting to move Norris as they push for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot.
