Another New York Rangers Forward Hits the Trade Block, per The Athletic
The New York Rangers are falling apart over the past month, and now it appears they're actively shopping veteran forward Jimmy Vesey after a solid second stint in New York over the past three years.
Despite a red-hot start to the 2024/25 campaign, the New York Rangers are just 3-11-0 in their last 14 games, with the team completely falling apart at the seams as constant drama surrounds the franchise.
The team have already moved both captain Jacob Trouba and forward Kaapo Kakko in surprising deals, and GM Chris Drury may not be done making moves.
According to a report from Arthur Staple of The Athletic, veteran forward Jimmy Vesey may be the next to go, as the team are actively shopping him with the trade deadline nearing.
That report reveals that the team are seeking a fourth or a fifth round pick for the former Hobey Baker award winner, and given his solid production on the fourth line, that appears to be a solid return.
Since returning to New York after a failed first stint, Vesey has played in 81 and 80 games in two seasons with the Rangers, tallying a solid 51 points over that stretch while accumulating a +9 differential.
This season he's played in just 17 games, posting 2 goals and 3 points in that time, so while he'll never be the star that many expected him to be coming out of Harvard University, he's certainly put together a solid career at the NHL level.
Rumours still circulate about players such as Chris Kreider and Ryan Lindgren in the Big Apple, but their futures are much more unclear than Vesey, who appears to be on the way out as the team look to shake things up and find their groove for a Stanley Cup run once more.
