The Montreal Canadiens announced an exciting roster move today, giving one of their prospects the opportunity of a lifetime.

The Canadiens are currently down one forward after Emil Heineman was struck by a car in Salt Lake City.

The team has been rotating forwards in and out of the lineup to make up for the rookie's absence and now it appears as though a new player may get his turn.

The team announced today that they have recalled Owen Beck from the Laval Rockets of the American Hockey League.

Canadiens fans seem rather excited about the chance to see one of the team's top prospects have an impact on the team potentially as early as tonight.

Many seem to think that Beck would be an improvement over at least a couple of forwards the team has been playing on a regular basis this season.

Beck was selected in the second round, 33rd overall by the Canadiens in 2022.

Last year he was part of the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL and scored 14 points in 17 playoff games as the team won the Memorial Cup.

This year, Beck has made the transition to pro hockey, spending the season with the Laval Rockets.

In 37 games he has 9 goals and 25 points, a plus 9 rating, and 22 penalty minutes.

This is his first NHL callup of his career. The team plays the New York Rangers tonight in Montreal but it is not clear if he will be in the lineup or not.

Either way, it is only a matter of time before the 20-year-old gets a chance to make his NHL debut.
