Trade proposal: Patrik Laine to the Montreal Canadiens

Since Kent Hughes took over as manager in 2022, the team has made some big trades during each draft; such as acquiring Kirby Dach in 2022 and Alex Newhook in 2023. Its now almost expected that Hughes is gearing up for another move.

One intriguing suggestion is that the Montreal Canadiens could trade the 26th overall pick in 2023, Christian Dvorak and Jordan Harris to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Patrik Laine.

Patrik Laine faced challenges during his last NHL season with injuries and involvement, in the Player Assistance Program.

Montreal boasts one of the best coaches in the League, Martin St Louis, known for his ability to help players excel and reach their full potential. Despite this it would be quite unexpected to witness Hughes pursuing Laine in a trade deal.

Although his talent is undeniable, the demanding nature of Montreal can be taxing on players. If Laine aims to thrive in such a market, he must acquire the necessary resources. This consideration might discourage Hughes from pursuing the move.
