Kaiden Guhle, the team's young defenseman, needed emergency surgery to treat appendicitis, the Montreal Canadiens announced on social media X.
Kaiden Guhle was selected by the Montreal Canadiens with the 16th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In his two seasons as a player, he has contributed 30 assists in addition to 10 goals for a total of 40 points.
Guhle, 22, inked a six-year, $33.3-million contract extension in July and is gearing up for his third NHL season. He will continue to play under his entry-level contract this season, which expires at the end of the calendar year.
