Montreal Canadiens extend defenseman Arber Xhekaj with a two-year contract
BREAKING: On Tuesday, the Montreal Canadiens re-signed defenseman Arber Xhekaj to a two-year contract worth $2.6 million.
The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a two-year contract (2024-25 to 2025-26) with defenseman Arber Xhekaj.

The new deal provides Xhekaj with an average annual value of $1.3 million.

Xhekaj, a restricted free agent, played 44 games with the Canadiens last season, notching three goals and 10 points. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 240 pounds, he led the team with 81 penalty minutes and topped all defensemen with 125 hits.
The 23-year-old from Hamilton, Ont. began his NHL career as an undrafted player and initially signed with the Canadiens in 2021.
