The National Hockey League (NHL) goaltender lifespan is not very high, as former Canadiens goaltender Keith Kinkaid unfortunately discovered the hard way.

Kinkaid, 35, appeared in 24 games for the Chicago Wolves last year, recording a 3.54 goals-against average and a .880 save percentage. With 13 years of pro hockey on his resume, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound netminder, has 169 NHL games under his belt.
The seasoned goalie spent his summer on Long Island, training at the Isles' practice facility, Northwell Health Ice Center, where he also signed a PTO (Professional Tryout) contract.
«You've got to prove yourself,» Kinkaid said. «That's what I'm coming here to do, prove myself. Lou [Lamoriello] knows me from the beginning of my career, so I'm hoping I can still show them what I got.»

Unfortunately, after being cut from his professional tryout with the New York Islanders this summer, Kinkaid signed with Charlotte.
Keith Kinkaid signed a one-year, one-way contract with the American Hockey League (AHL) during his fourteenth season of professional hockey.
But now it's been revealed that he'll probably have to start the season in the East Coast League (ECHL) with the Savannah Ghost Pirates, a team affiliated to both the NHL's Florida Panthers and the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.
With a 2.91 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage, he finished 70-58-21 in his NHL career. Kinkaid has played for the Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, and Montreal Canadiens.
In the AHL, Kinkaid has played with the Chicago Wolves, Hartford Wolf Pack, Providence Bruins, Laval Rocket, Charlotte Checkers, Albany Devils, Colorado Eagles, and Providence Bruins. Has a 116-98-29 record with an efficiency rate of .904 and an average of 2.80. Kinkaid has never participated in the ECHL in his professional career.
