Angela Price, wife of Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, has sparked controversy with her social media comments about the 2024 Summer Olympics.

On Instagram, Price reacted to a query about Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who has been criticized due to unverified claims about her gender identity. Her response featured a satirical photoshopped image of Mike Tyson in a wig, seemingly referencing the ongoing debate about Khelif's gender.
Price's response included the following remarks:
"That saying 'common sense isn't very common these days'....a woman will never be able to compete at the same level as a man and I think it is heart breaking for these women born athletes, heartbreaking! do you, dress and act however you like but there are limits."

Social media questions about Khelif's fairness in sports arose after the International Boxing Association (IBA), a Russian boxing federation, claimed Khelif failed a gender eligibility test in 2023, leading to allegations that she was male.
Her quick victory over Italian boxer Angela Carini in just 46 seconds intensified the social media backlash, with notable figures like Elon Musk and U.S. Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance weighing in.
Khelif, who identifies as female and has not claimed to be biologically male, has denounced the IBA's claims as an "injustice." Algeria, her home country, has strict laws against LGBT+ rights, including issues related to gender identity and transitioning.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has expressed support for Khelif, countering criticisms about her eligibility. They highlighted her participation in the 2020 Olympics, where she did not win a medal, and noted that the IBA has refused to release details of their findings. The IOC asserts that Khelif, along with another contested boxer, Lin Yu-ting, meets the eligibility criteria.
Khelif has since won against Hungarian boxer Anna Luca Hamori, advancing to the medal round in the women's welterweight competition at the Olympics.
