As the Calgary Flames face a bleak playoff outlook, there's chatter that one of their star players might be heading to their battle of Alberta opponent.

The 2023/24 season saw a stark contrast between the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers, and it seems that a trade between the two teams might be on the horizon. Speculation suggests that the Oilers see Calgary defenseman Rasmus Andersson as a perfect fit, and he could be available if the price is right.
[Andersson] could slide in on the second pairing with NurseHis offensive contributions have improved over the last three seasons (138 points in 239 games) but the Flames' sell-off in 2023-24 had an impact on his overall numbers.

The Flames are likely to attract significant interest for Andersson around the league, so the Oilers will need to offer a competitive package to secure him. With the Flames undergoing a rebuild, the prevailing sentiment in Calgary is that Andersson may soon be on the move.
In the last three seasons, Andersson has recorded 50, 49, and 39 points, demonstrating his offensive potential and well-rounded game that would complement Darnell Nurse, whom the Oilers need to perform at a high level. Given their recent acquisition of Matthew Savoie, any offer from the Oilers would likely need to include him, Filip Broberg, and possibly some draft picks (or a combination of these assets). While a trade might seem unlikely, anything can happen in the NHL.
