Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk shared his thoughts after his team suffered an 8-1 defeat against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Panthers had a prime chance to clinch the series last night, but the Oilers delivered a commanding performance, forcing a fifth game.
In their first finals appearance, the Panthers were powerless to halt the Oilers, who decisively won 8-1.
However, Tkachuk assured that the team's confidence remains intact as they prepare to reunite with their fans on Tuesday.
"We're in an unbelievable spot right now," said Tkachuk in spite of the loss. "We came here and after all that craziness got a split. Now we're going home [to play] in front of our unbelievable fans. They're so excited to see us and we're so excited to play in front of them again."
He later spoke out about Bobrovsky's struggles, standing firmly behind him by stating that none of the eight goals were the goalie's fault.
"We gave up eight goals and zero of them were the goalie's fault," taking the blame for his goaltender."
Tkachuk concluded by detailing his team's plan to bounce back and prepare for Game 5.
"We haven't lost a game in a while until tonight," admitted Tkachuk. "At the end of the day, back to the drawing board. We win, we learn from it and we put it aside, we lose, same thing."
