The excitement was building for the Florida Panthers' Stanley Cup Champions Ring Ceremony on Monday, at Amerant Bank Arena but Mother Nature had different plans.
The event was canceled due to Hurricane Milton making its way toward Florida. With counties like Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade under a state of emergency, the safety of everyone had to come first.
Team president Matthew Caldwell reassured fans that while the ring ceremony won't happen, the season opener against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday at 7 p.m. is still on track. The Panthers are working hard to ensure the arena and surrounding areas are safe for fans.
For those who bought tickets to the ring ceremony, you'll get a full refund, and it's worth noting that the proceeds were going to great causes like the United Negro College Fund Fort Lauderdale and the United Way of Broward County's Mission United, thanks to the Florida Panthers Foundation.
The hockey world may have to wait longer to see those rings publicly as the boys will get them privately, but the Cats eyes are firmly set on the season ahead and attempt at a repeat.
