Evander Kane finally addresses his future with the Edmonton Oilers
Amid rising concerns about his health and reported tensions with the team, Evander Kane has officially announced his intention to remain with the Edmonton Oilers.
Edmonton's recent NHL playoff run was one of their best in years. Connor McDavid broke Wayne Gretzky's playoff assist record, and the team staged a thrilling Game 7 comeback in the finals despite several injuries. The Oilers are now one of the most promising teams for upcoming Stanley Cup seasons.
"The new record holder for most assists in a single #StanleyCup Playoffs in NHL history.
Connor McDavid."
However, as the trading season progresses, many fans are worried about Evander Kane's future in Edmonton. Kane was one of the Oilers most affected by injuries and had trouble meshing with his teammates.
"Knoblauch provides injury update on McDavid, Draisaitl
- Evander Kane / Sports Hernia
- Leon Draisaitl / Rib, Hand Injury (Suspected Broken Rib, Broken Finger)
- Connor McDavid / (Suspected Abdominal Issue)" Despite these concerns, they didn't seem to trouble the veteran forward. According to Two Mutts Hockey Podcast, Kane intends to stay in Edmonton and is prepared to exercise his no-move clause. Furthermore, he is expected to be fully healed and ready for September training.
"Based on reports we've gotten over the last 48 hours @EdmontonOilers forward @evanderkane should be fully recovered & healthy by September when training camp opens up.
Kane has been able to do some activities, he's been golfing with his friends in Edmonton & enjoying life as he should be. He's also built a new home in Edmonton & the community has treated him very well as he's also treated the community well in return. It's been a great fit for both sides. He wants to be apart of this winning culture, he's been adding to it since be got to Edmonton.
The health is the most serious thing here, it sounds like it's been getting better for Kane. Which is a huge positive."
With Evander Kane returning to full health and showing unwavering commitment to the team, the Edmonton Oilers are poised to be a formidable force this upcoming season. Whether this will be enough to secure the Stanley Cup remains to be seen.
