Adam Henrique, acquired by the Edmonton Oilers with a first-round pick, likely won't stay with the team after their Stanley Cup Finals exit.
The veteran from the Anaheim Ducks and New Jersey Devils was close to winning the Stanley Cup, but fell short against the Florida Panthers. According to David Pagnotta, he believes he can't achieve the ultimate victory in Edmonton and is now seeking opportunities elsewhere.
David Pagnotta: "Adam Henrique is expected to hit free agency and after his playoff performance, his value has certainly been given a solid boost. He's unlikely to re-sign with the Oilers and will attractive plenty of interest July 1."
Adam Henrique has expressed his desire to join a contender, but the Edmonton Oilers' extremely tight salary cap will pose significant challenges.
Henrique says it (chance to win) is a big factor in free agency and understands that signing with a team who can win likely means taking a bit less (salary), but said having that chance is worth it.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead for the veteran forward.
