Two former NHL head coaches have been linked to the Detroit Red Wings in new rumors today as the team continues to struggle.

Those two coaches would be none other than Joel Quenneville and Jay Woodcroft.
Of course, Quenneville would be a controversial pick due to his involvement in the Chicago Blackhawks scandal, but nonetheless, his name is out there according to the Fourth Period.
"Though Joel Quenneville has been linked as a possible candidate to replace Lalonde, multiple league sources have suggested to TFP that the Wings could pursue former Edmonton Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft as an option if the Wings make a change behind the bench."

That being said, Quenneville and Woodcroft are not the only two names that have been mentioned.
Current assistant coach and former Sharks head coach Bob Boughner is also rumored to be taking over in an interim role, but it even sounds like that may not be a done deal.
"Wings Associate Coach Bob Boughner, who joined Detroit after serving as Head Coach of the San Jose Sharks, could be instilled as Interim Head Coach if a change occurs mid-season, though some chatter suggests Boughner may also be a casualty if Detroit reshapes its coaching staff."

There has been a lot of speculation around the Red Wings head coach this season, even before this new report.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the Spittin Chiclets guys suggested that former Red Wings forward Sergei Fedorov could replace Lalonde as soon as this season.
Furthermore, Red Wings fans are starting to get tired of the same old story.
After another brutal loss today, many fans are calling for Lalonde to be fired.
After all, the team held a 4-3 lead late in the 3rd period, but crumbled to lose 5-4 in overtime.
With the loss, the team falls to 10-11-3, good for 6th place in the Atlantic Division.
Regardless of what direction management goes, it seems as though Lalonde's days with the organization are numbered.
Be sure to keep an eye on the team in the coming days to see when he finally gets the axe and who will replace him.
