The Columbus Blue Jackets have decided to part ways with assistant coach Mark Recchi ahead of the new season.

This announcement, made by Athletic reporter Aaron Portzline on X, comes after a challenging year for Recchi, who was brought in last September to fill the void left by Mike Babcock.
Assistant coach Mark Recchi has been informed he will not be back with #CBJ next season.

That's a rough ride for an NHL Hall of Famer w 3 Stanley Cup rings - fired after only one season after joining the franchise last Sept mid-training camp following the Babcock debacle.
Recchi's time with the Blue Jackets was marked by considerable difficulties. He was hired just as the team was embroiled in controversy over Babcock's departure, and his single season with the team was plagued by struggles and an underwhelming performance.
While Recchi is exiting, assistant coach Steve McCarthy, who joined the team at the same time as Recchi, will remain. The Blue Jackets have yet to name a replacement for Recchi or provide additional details on future staffing changes. However, assistant coach Jared Boll is confirmed to return for the upcoming season.
