The Colorado Avalanche are having a below-average start to their season, and their goaltending is to blame. The team is now rumored to be targeting one.

Dave Pagnotta of 'The Fourth Period' appeared on TSN Radio in Montreal to talk about the Colorado Avalanche goaltending situation just over one month into the season.
Pagnotta was asked one straightforward question: Is Colorado comfortable with their respective goaltending situation, or may they look at trade avenues to bolster the position?
The comparison noted Colorado's 2022 Stanley Cup win with Darcy Kuemper, a goalie some doubted could deliver.
Pagnotta echoed his opinion when he stated that Colorado, for him, is in a unique situation: Alexandar Georgiev's inconsistent play and the injured Pavel Francouz have made the Avalanche look like a team likely to seek an upgrade in goal, but that might not be any time soon.
For Pagnotta, it's been an issue for Colorado over the years: the Avalanche have actively looked for an upgrade in the goalie position during previous trade deadlines too.
Anyone who pays attention to the league knows the goalie situation in Colorado.
Before his injury, Georgiev was on an uptick, while Justus Annunen has been thrown into a tough spot.
The Avalanche have already taken steps, putting Kaapo Kahkonen on waivers after they had claimed him earlier in the season from the Jets, and now seem connected to the likes of Mackenzie Blackwood from the San Jose Sharks.
Injuries to Sharks goalies Vitek Vanecek and Yaroslav Askarov further complicate the trade market, with one likely to be moved if Askarov eventually plays out well.
Colorado's need to upgrade between the pipes is still one of the most talked-about storylines as the Avalanche try to set up their lineup for another deep run into the playoffs, after an unexpected slow start to this season.
