The Chicago Blackhawks have struggled after a solid start to the year, and now frustration is growing, with a potential trade with the Edmonton Oilers looming.

While the drafting of Connor Bedard was a huge step forward for the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks, they've unfortunately not been able to put enough talent around the young star, and it's leading to some major frustration. In a recent matchup with the Dallas Stars, Bedard took a rare unsporstmanlike misconduct penalty, showing that playing in Chicago certainly isn't easy with this forward group.
Now, there have been suggestions on a way to fix this, with Elliotte Friedman noting on a podcast with Bob Stauffer that this could lead to a trade with the Edmonton Oilers. The details of that potential trade are up in the air due to money with the Oilers, but Friedman suggested that they could send Jeff Skinner to Chicago in return for Murphy, in a deal that potentially satisfies the needs of both teams.
Skinner has been very average early in his first season with Edmonton, posting 3 goals and 6 points through 15 games, but he would provide Bedard with an elite level finisher if the two could be paired together. As for Murphy, he has two years left on a deal that pays him $4.4 million annually, so while a third team could potentially get involved to take on some of that money, he's a perfect fit for the Oilers, making this a great potential trade for both teams.
Ultimately, frustrations are being felt for both teams this season, but for Chicago, keeping Connor Bedard happy should be their top priority, so don't be shocked if they take on a veteran forward along with another asset to make it work.
