An NHL source has revealed that after much trade speculation, the Boston Bruins may choose to hold to young star Trent Frederic for the time being.

While it is technically true that Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic will be on course for free agency next July, the chances of him in another jersey before then are low.
On Tuesday, NHL insider Kevin Weekes reported that Frederic, a 6'3", 220-pound forward, has been one of the hottest names on trade calls around the league.
Weekes is right that Frederic, a former first-round selection of the Bruins in 2016 (29th overall), has generated interest from teams looking to bolster their lineups.
However, sources close to the Bruins and an NHL executive who closely follows the trade market both report that Boston has zero intention of moving the 26-year-old.
One executive said his team is not targeting Frederic, but thus far, there has been little chatter about his availability on the trade market.
It's likely the reason Boston hasn't shown much enthusiasm to deal him is due to the fact that it pertains to the promise that he's shown during the last two seasons.
Coming off a 2022-23 season in which he scored 17 goals and notched 14 assists in 79 games, Frederic took another step forward last year, popping 18 goals and 22 assists in 82 games.
Though he has started slow this season, with just one goal and two assists through 15 games, his recent growth makes him a valuable asset for Boston.
The Bruins haven't had the best start this season, with their current record being 7-7-1.
Due to this poor start, the trade rumor mill started running, and sources close to the league really believe that if Frederic ever becomes available on the trade market or hits free agency, the St. Louis Blues could become a player in his quest for a new team, as they appear to be the leading front-runners.
Trent Frederic's agent, Allain Roy, did not return a request seeking comment on the situation, leaving more questions unanswered, for now.
