After a contentious departure from the NHL, Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has inked a substantial contract with a KHL team, with full details recently revealed.
It's now official that Kuznetsov, formerly with the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes, has joined SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL.
"Evgeny Kuznetsov's run in the NHL is officially over; he has signed a four-year deal with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL."
Recent reports have unveiled intriguing details about Kuznetsov's contract, including his salary.
Kuznetsov has secured a four-year deal worth 92 million rubles, a nod to his jersey number 92. This practice mirrors the NHL, similar to Sidney Crosby's $8.7 million annual salary reflecting his jersey number 87.
"SKA will make a very nice move, which is sometimes practiced in the NHL - for example, Sidney Crosby signed a contract with an average salary of $8.7 million per year in honor of the fact that he plays under number 87. Evgeny Kuznetsov will receive a four-year contract in St. Petersburg, the average salary of which will be 92 million rubles."
By the end of his contract, Kuznetsov will be 36. Should he maintain his health, there's potential for a longer career or even a North American return.
