NHL insider Pierre LeBrun from the Athletic has just revealed that the Carolina Hurricanes are targeting four goaltenders to help boost that position.

The Carolina Hurricanes seek goalies in the acquisition of talents. According to 'The Athletic' correspondent and NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, Carolina's interest in four netminders has been considered: Ottawa's Anton Forsberg, Utah's Karel Vejmelka, Calgary's Dan Vladar, and Anaheim's John Gibson.
However, Pierre LeBrun adds that none of those teams currently hold any selling position, with possibly the exception of Anaheim, and their willingness to give these players away will depend on the flow of the season.
Three of these goalies are expected to become unrestricted free agents this summer, with the only exception being John Gibson.
Anton Forsberg currently sits behind Linus Ullmark in Ottawa and has posted a .889 save percentage in 11 appearances to this point in the season.
The 32-year-old veteran does bring some familiarity with Carolina, as he suited up for the Hurricanes briefly during the 2019-20 campaign.
Meanwhile, Karel Vejmelka has taken over as the number one for Utah, recording a respectable .915 save percentage in 17 games thus far.
Dan Vladar, on the other hand, has struggled through his time in Calgary, posting a .885 save percentage in 16 games while splitting time in net with Dustin Wolf.
Also, the Hurricanes are claimed to have called the Anaheim Ducks on Gibson, reportedly, after failing to capture Mackenzie Blackwood, who moved to the Colorado Avalanche on December 9, so that door may not be shut just yet either.
Goaltending has been the one unresolved inconsistency in the Carolina lineup, with Pyotr Kochetkov going .895 through 18 games while handed the No. 1 job in the wake of Frederik Andersen, who went on IR in October before undergoing surgery on his knee in late November to start an eight-week recovery timeline.
With questions seemingly surrounding their crease, the Hurricanes clearly are on the lookout for reinforcements as they try to lock down their goaltending for the rest of the year.
