In a desperate attempt to provide food for his starving Carolina Hurricane teammates, Brent Burns hopped into the car of a stranger.

Over the years, we've heard a lot of crazy stories from the NHL, most of which don't sound even remotely real. These stories sometimes seem so ludicrous that we don't believe them for a moment. Generally speaking, it's fairly easy to spot when someone is lying. Every now and then, though, a story emerges that is so strange yet plausible that it dispels all doubt.
The Carolina Hurricanes' Brent Burns is the one involved in this next crazy one. In the middle of the night, a 6-foot-5 man who is missing half of his teeth knocked on your car window at McDonald's and asked to get in. How would you respond? That's what happened to a random man last night when Brent Burns, asked to get into his car.
After the Hurricanes team played the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night, their plane broke down, which is how the story began. This means that instead of flying as they usually would when they play the Canucks tonight, they had to take the bus the few hours between Seattle and Vancouver.
Normally, the crew would eat on the aircraft, but that was not an option. Instead, following a decisive 4-1 victory over the Kraken, they needed to find a place to refuel on the way to Vancouver.
The bus arrived at the Everett location after veteran Burns took matters into his own hands and planned a McDonald's run for the team.
Burns discovered that the bus was too big and that only the drive-thru was open when it arrived. As a result, he needed a car. At this point, he went up to a stranger and asked if he would drive him through the drive-through.
Burns is renowned for his untamed appearance and coarse beard. Seeing him knock on your car window in the middle of the night would have been quite the sight.
In the end, the Hurricanes managed to get their food and arrived in Vancouver without incident. The team's precise order details are unknown, according to Murphy, but there are rumors that it included 100 cheeseburgers. That bus was defintely packed with a bunch of hungry hockey players.
