Andrei Kuzmenko's performance after joining the Calgary Flames has elevated him to a prime trade candidate for Craig Conroy.
The Flames, amid a significant rebuild, have seen Kuzmenko's value rise, particularly after acquiring him in the deal involving Elias Lindholm.
Kuzmenko made waves during his rookie season with the Vancouver Canucks, netting 39 goals in the 2022/23 season. Despite a sluggish start last year, his arrival in Calgary brought a turnaround.
In just 25 games with the Flames, Kuzmenko scored 14 goals and added 25 points, showing his potential to be a key player in the league. Now, he's emerging as one of the NHL's most sought-after assets as the trade deadline approaches.
"While the Flames are patient with Kuzmenko, his long-term future in Calgary hinges on his ability to round out his game beyond scoring. If he becomes more than just a solid goal scorer, he could earn a long-term extension. However, if he doesn't, he may become a desirable trade deadline trade target before he hits free agency next summer." Parsons said.
At 28, Kuzmenko's age places him outside the Flames' current rebuild timeline. If he maintains his strong performance in the 2024/25 season, Calgary could seek a substantial return for the talented winger.
