The Calgary Flames insist on a huge return in exchange for Jacob Markstrom
According to an insider, the Calgary Flames are insisting on a substantial return for Jacob Markstrom on the trade market.
Interest from the Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, and Ottawa Senators has sparked speculation among fans regarding the potential return Calgary could expect in a trade deal.
Reporter Bruce Garrioch disclosed that the Flames may be seeking a top-tier prospect and a first-round pick in exchange for Markstrom:
"A league executive said they believe the Flames would likely be looking for a package that would include a first-round pick and high-end young prospect."
Markstrom, with two years remaining on his $6 million AAV contract, holds a no-move clause, granting him significant influence over his next destination.
At 34 years old, Markstrom, aiming for a team with strong Stanley Cup aspirations, is at a pivotal stage in his career. Despite being part of a struggling team last season, he posted impressive statistics, boasting a 2.78 GAA and a 0.905 SV%.
