The Bruins are facing major challenges in re-signing Jeremy Swayman, says Insider Kevin Paul DuPont of the Boston Globe.

The Boston Bruins boasted a strong goaltending duo during the 2023-24 season with Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark, both achieving a save percentage of at least .915.
However, after trading Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators for Mark Kastelic, Joonas Korpisalo, and a draft pick, the Bruins now face a challenge in keeping Swayman.
"The Boston Bruins have traded goaltender Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forward Mark Kastelic, goaltender Joonas Korpisalo and a 2024 first-round draft pick."
Despite having $8.6 million in cap space, the Bruins might struggle to fit Swayman's new contract, which is expected to exceed $9 million annually. NHL Insider Kevin Paul DuPont suggests the team may need to make additional trades to free up enough room.
"Kevin Paul DuPont of the Boston Globe suggests that while the Boston Bruins have $8.6 million in cap space, they still may have to make a trade to free up a bit more room in order to sign goaltender Jeremy Swayman.

His next contract, depending on term, is expected to come in north of $9M AAV."

With limited options for moving players, the Bruins could face difficulties in clearing enough cap space to re-sign Jeremy Swayman. The team will need to act quickly to avoid a challenging season.
