Despite a standout 2023/24 season, Alex Nylander was still available as August approached, but he's now secured what could be a great opportunity.
The Toronto Marlies, AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced on Sunday the addition of Alex Nylander, the younger sibling of star forward William Nylander.
Nylander experienced a slow start with Pittsburgh but thrived after being traded to Columbus, where he scored 11 goals and earned 16 points in just 23 games, showcasing his potential.
Though he had less than 100 NHL appearances before his successful stint with Columbus, the Maple Leafs have openings in their bottom six, making him a potentially valuable addition.
He will start the upcoming season with the Marlies, aiming to build on his impressive performance. If he continues to develop, the 26-year-old could finally realize the potential he showed when he was drafted No. 8 overall by the Sabres in 2016.
