17 games into the 2024-25 NHL regular season, and rumours are swirling that the Boston Bruins are looking at making a major change. One insider report states the team wants a top-6 forward.
An NHL executive reportedly told Jimmy Murphy of RG.org to "be on the lookout" for a big move from the Boston Bruins, adding the GM Don Sweeney wants another top-6 forward to balance out their lineup.
As for the teams Sweeney is rumoured to be talking to in his search for a trade, the Columbus Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks, and Utah Hockey Club. Meanwhile, Boston Bruins fans are getting restless.
There has also been plenty of talk about potentially replacing head coach Jim Montgomery, who recently benched David Pastrnak for the entire third period of a game. It doesn't appear that the Bruins are there yet.
There has also been chatter about the possibility of moving on from team captain Brad Marchand. Doing so would be an indication that Don Sweeney at the Boston Bruins have gone into full rebuild mode.
A top-6 forward probably makes the most sense for the team, for now. However, fans and analysts expected a much better record for the Boston Bruins at this point in the season than 8-7-2. You can only lose for so long before front-office heads start to roll.
