After weeks of speculation and struggles on the ice, the Boston Bruins today have made it official and named a new Head Coach.

The Boston Bruins have been very inconsistent early in the 2024/25 season, with the team posting an 8-9-3 record through their first 21 games, a major difference from their red-hot starts over the last few seasons.
For weeks now, there has been speculation over the future of Head Coach Jim Montgomery, and today the team made an announcement, making the long awaited move official.
While it was a long time coming, it still wasn't an easy move to make, with General Manager Don Sweeney having this to say about the move:
«Today, I made a very difficult decision with regards to a coaching change. Jim Montgomery is a very good NHL coach and an even better person. He has made a positive impact throughout the Bruins organization, and I am both grateful and appreciative of the opportunity to work with him and learn from him. Jim's accomplishments as the Bruins head coach include a record-breaking and historic season, and I want to thank his entire family and wish him, Emily, J.P., Colin, Ava and Olivia all the success and happiness with their next opportunity. Our team's inconsistency and performance in the first 20 games of the 2024-25 season has been concerning and below how the Bruins want to reward our fans. I believe Joe Sacco has the coaching experience to bring the players and the team back to focusing on the consistent effort the NHL requires to have success. We will continue to work to make the necessary adjustments to meet the standard and performance our supportive fans expect.»
In Montgomery's place, the team have turned to Joe Sacco as their Interim Head Coach, and depending on how things go from here on out, he could become the full-time Head Coach.
With so much talent on this roster, it's safe to say that they've underperformed greatly, and with the team believing they are a Stanley Cup threat, they didn't want to wait too long to make this move.
Ultimately, Montgomery had his chance and couldn't get the Bruins past the second-round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and now they will wait to see if this move can spark a run from this talented group.
