The Boston Bruins fell short in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and after Jeremy Swayman carried the load, it appears Linus Ullmark may be on the way out.
It's been rumoured for quite some time, but now, the possibility is becoming much more real, as the Boston Bruins are reportedly ready to move on from Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman has established himself as the teams unquestioned No. 1 moving forward. While they tried to move him at the deadline and failed, he's now likely to be on the move in the summer, with the Colorado Avalanche now appearing as a genuine threat to land the Vezina Trophy winner.
In the proposed deal between the two sides, Colorado would land Ullmark, while Boston would get a talented young defenseman in Samuel Girard as well as a solid veteran backup for Swayman in Alexandar Georgiev. It's unclear if Boston would want more from this deal, as they are giving up a player just one year removed from a Vezina Trophy win, but given he played very little in the playoffs, this trade makes plenty of sense.
Don Sweeney recently revealed that the team would love to keep their star tandem together if the math works, but if they want to add star power to this roster ahead of a potential Stanley Cup push in 2025, they need to give up something of value, and at this point, it just makes sense for that piece to be Ullmark.
