Recently, the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman decided against filing for arbitration, making it possible for Swayman to be with a new team next season.

In recent days, Jeremy Swayman opted not to file for salary arbitration with the Boston Bruins. This decision was unexpected, as both sides had gone to arbitration last season and were anticipated to do so again. Today, the Boston Bruins also chose not to pursue arbitration with Jeremy Swayman.
Bruins have elected not to file for arbitration
Typically, both parties file for arbitration, allowing time for negotiation while the team retains the player's exclusive rights. In this case, however, that will not occur, leaving the Boston Bruins at risk of potentially losing Jeremy Swayman.

Exploring the Boston Bruins options with Jeremy Swayman after declining arbitration

With both sides declining salary arbitration, the range of outcomes for Jeremy Swayman staying or leaving Boston expands significantly.
The first possibility is an extension. Had they pursued arbitration, Swayman would have been signed to a one-year contract at the arbiter's awarded salary. Now, they can focus on negotiating a long-term extension.
The second possibility is an offer sheet from another team. Previously, due to the impending arbitration, other teams could not submit offer sheets to Swayman. With arbitration off the table, other teams can now offer him a contract.
The third option involves trading Jeremy Swayman's rights to a new team, leading to an extension in his new city and allowing the Boston Bruins to recoup some assets. Reportedly, several teams are already inquiring about Swayman's status.
The #NHLBruins have not elected to file for arbitration with Jeremy Swayman. He is now eligible for an offer sheet.

The Bruins have $8.64M in cap space. Possible teams who could target Swayman (cap space + assets) could be the Hurricanes, Kraken, Sabres, Red Wings, or Flyers.
Currently, there are no significant reports suggesting that relations have soured between Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins. Many anticipate a long-term deal being reached in the coming days. However, if an agreement isn't signed, expect other teams to step in and attempt to make a deal.
