Despite his limited presence in the NHL, Anaheim Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier faced backlash for recent comments he made.

Although Cutter Gauthier was the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft, the left winger has yet to make a significant impact in the NHL. Without any ice time for the Philadelphia Flyers, he was traded to the Anaheim Ducks earlier this year for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a pick in the second round of the 2025 draft.
"TRADE: We have acquired left wing Cutter Gauthier from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a second-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft."
Even after relocating to Anaheim, he had few opportunities to make a name for himself, playing only one game last season, his first NHL shift.
Nonetheless, he made headlines this offseason, though probably not as he intended. In a get-to-know-the-player interview for the Ducks, he answered a question about his Starbucks order but made a comment about women that many soft fans online found inappropriate.
"Oh, I'm a chick when it comes to that stuff. I'll go iced caramel macchiato."
Although this was a brief, offhand comment, it did not come across as the joke he intended for all audiences. Upset hockey fans took to social media to voice their disapproval of the remark.
as a former starbucks barista i'm here to tell you that the most popular drink ordered by guys is in fact the caramel macchiato, miss me with that «chick» order like..
It's clear that the comment had no ill-intention. The responsibility for ensuring interview material is appropriate primarily lies with the Anaheim Ducks' PR team. This incident highlights how some fans may have overreacted, as not every offhand remark deserves such strong backlash.
