The other night, the Chicago Blackhawks and Connor Bedard were in Dallas to face the Dallas Stars. In what most people thought would be a tough challenge for Chicago, the Hawks ended up winning 6-2, thanks to Bedard's first goal since October 26th, and Taylor Hall's hat trick.
Fans were especially happy to see Hall bouncing back after a tough season start. In his first 20 games, the 33-year-old forward had six points, and now has nine in 21.
After the game, Hall revealed it was a bittersweet moment for him, as no one from his family was at the arena to watch him score the fifth hat trick of his career:
Since head coach Luke Richardson decided to scratch him from the lineup around two weeks ago, Hall has been playing with a chip on his shoulder.
Many rumors have emerged since then, and a new one by Daily Hive's Preston Hodgkinson suggests that Hall, who showed that he hasn't lost his offensive touch, could return to one of his former teams: the Edmonton Oilers.
Hall is set to be a free agent at the end of the current season. The Blackhawks could be tempted to trade him to a contending team for an interesting return, especially if the organization doesn't believe they'll reach a deal with him next summer.
As for the Oilers, they'd likely need to part ways with a pick or a prospect to get Hall, and would surely ask the Hawks to retain a part of his $6,000,000 AAV salary.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Hall. It could be possible to see the Blackhawks decide to keep him at a low salary, but the team would make a strategic move by trading him ahead of the deadline.
Stay tuned for all the latest details.
