While big changes are expected, the team just completed a minor trade.
In an official press release, the team announced the acquisition of the forward Ryder Rolston from the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations:
Rolston is a 23-year-old forward drafted 139th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche.
Last season, he scored 19 points, including 10 goals, in 62 games with the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL.
Some fans may find this acquisition quite underwhelming for a team supposed to make big changes. However, we never know what plans are in the works in the GM's offices.
In this case, Trotz didn't have to pay anything to get him, and the player has two seasons left on the $895,000 AAV entry-level contract he signed in 2023.
As for the Blackhawks, the goal is still to surround Connor Bedard with the best possible players, and freeing up a contract spot could be hinting at Kyle Davidson's plans.
