Just weeks after Jeff Marek's sudden firing, Sportsnet has let go of another prominent personality, Christine Simpson.

The network continues to experience a shake-up within its on-air talent. Simpson, who began her hockey reporting career in 1998, was beloved for her interviews and insightful coverage on Hockey Night in Canada. Over the years, she became a fan favorite, often engaging with the NHL's biggest stars.
This move is part of a broader pattern of exits at Rogers Sportsnet. Earlier this summer, Jeff Marek's departure had drawn attention, with reports linking it to leaked information about players from the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Marek has yet to surface elsewhere in hockey media but has expressed interest in new opportunities.
Kyle Bukauskas has been named Marek's replacement on the 32 Thoughts podcast, alongside Elliotte Friedman, signaling that Sportsnet is working quickly to fill gaps.
Simpson's announcement sparked plenty of speculation. Some believe she may have been let go, while others are hopeful she's moving on to an exciting new role. Only time will tell what lies ahead for Simpson.
As more exits loom, Sportsnet's future remains uncertain. Ron MacLean, another longtime personality, may be nearing the end of his run. With two years left on his contract, rumors of his departure are intensifying. Many hockey fans recall his role alongside Don Cherry during Coach's Corner, but some believe it's time for a new voice.

For now, the focus remains on Christine Simpson, who's left her mark on the hockey world. Fans and colleagues have been quick to express their well-wishes on social media, making it clear she'll be missed.
