The MLB Home Run Derby made headlines in sports on Monday, but attention shifted due to a lackluster National Anthem performance.

As fans anticipated the highlight of the MLB calendar, the All-Star weekend, excitement surrounded the Home Run Derby. However, events leading up to the tournament took an unexpected turn.
Grammy Award-winning country star Ingrid Andress was entrusted with performing the National Anthem, but unfortunately, it turned into a debacle.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, with many labeling it as possibly one of the worst anthem performances in sports history. Now, the details behind the debacle have surfaced.
Andress has now spoken out sating the following:
»I'm not gonna bulls**t y'all, I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to the MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is I hear it's super fun.»

Andress admitted she was intoxicated before the event but proceeded with it nonetheless. She pledged to enter rehab to address the issue, acknowledging it wasn't a valid excuse. Despite the potential long-term impact of the incident, she is taking responsibility and steps to address it. As the All-Star game approaches, MLB has an opportunity to make positive headlines and shift the focus back to the sport.
