Justin Blais, a defenseman for the Gatineau Olympiques, hit his head on the ice last night, causing a terrifying scene as he was carried off the ice.

Mikael Lalancette, a reporter for QMJHL, claims that Blais hit his head after falling to the ice during a scrum. When he started convulsing on the ice, the trainers and other on-site medical personnel responded right away. Fortunately, as he left the building, Lalancette disclosed that he was conscious.

"Very worrying scene in Baie-Comeau, Justin Blais of the Olympiques hits the ice with his head while falling during a scuffle. He goes into convulsions and must be taken off the ice on a stretcher. Fortunately, he was conscious upon his exit. Thoughts are with the @OlympiquesGAT."

This is consistent with the updates that we have received directly from the Olympiques. Additionally, they stated that Blais was awake and conscious while traveling to a nearby hospital for observation and evaluation.

Hopefully, tomorrow will bring a good update on Blais' condition. For more announcements, we will need to monitor the team. However, considering how frightening it appeared, it might take a few days before they can provide us with any information. I hope the young man was not seriously harmed in the long run.

This year, 6-foot defenseman Blais started his second season in the QMJHL. He has already contributed two assists in 12 games this season. He had six points in 55 games the previous season.

He will have the opportunity to be selected in the 2026 NHL Draft. He needs to concentrate on recovering well and playing well on the ice in the interim. We are praying for a swift recovery.
