The specific amounts of money that athletes from Canada and other countries earn for winning Olympic medals have now been disclosed.

Sarah-Florence Benjamin, a journalist from the French newspaper Journal de Montreal, has shared insights into the cash prizes awarded to Olympic medalists. These Olympics are currently taking place in Paris, France.
"Olympic medals don't hold the same value for all athletes. Since no cash prize is associated with the medals, it's the countries that decide to rewardor nottheir athletes. They also determine the size of the prize."

- Sarah-Florence Benjamin

The financial rewards for Olympic medalists differ by country, with some nations offering more substantial sums to their athletes. Canadian athletes receive less financial compensation compared to their international counterparts, which highlights a need for the Government of Canada to better support athletic development in the country.

Wow just $37,500 (all figures USD) as a monetary award to win a gold medal for the U.S. in the Olympics compared to Singapore where you earn $737,000 to win a gold medal or Taiwan at $716,000.

U.S needs to figure out a way to increase the monetary award for a gold medal.
