Raphael Lavoie, the 38th overall pick in the 2019 draft, was sent to the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL by the Edmonton Oilers last Sunday after placing him on waivers. A day later, the Vegas Golden Knights claimed him and put him on waivers.
The Oilers then claimed him back on Wednesday from the Golden Knights; however, he was not involved in any of the team's disastrous 6-0 opening-round losses. Lavoie was placed back on waivers by the Oilers on Thursday.
After a game of hot potato, It went on until today when Lavoie was claimed by the Golden Knights once again.
The player has now been assigned to the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights and won't be re-examined by waivers, the Vegas Golden Knights have confirmed.
The unfortunate part of this situation is that NHL waivers were created to give players who weren't selected for a deep roster a chance to join another NHL team. Unfortunately, Raph Lavoie, who rejoins the AHL in a new organization, won't experience that. At least he can try to prove himself and potentially make it back to the big leagues with the Golden Knights.
Lavoie has only managed one point in seven NHL games during his time with the Oilers. In 66 games with Bakersfield the previous season, he scored 28 goals.
